Dear Friends,
May the New year 2006 be a great year for each one of you. And like most of us do, we all set ourselves some "new year resolutions' which should be realistic and attainable.
In today’s world, where life is so competitive and unpredictable, it is best for every one of us especially the women to empower herself to become self reliant and independent persons. Here a few suggestions that you could follow :
1) Believe in yourself and value your relationships with people. 2) Learn to stand up to your convictions and speak out for yourself. 3) Discourage any sexist jokes or sexual harassment (especially at your workplace). 4) Do not go for outer looks – value the inner qualities of people. 5) Education is an investment – educate yourself and stand on your own feet. 6) Plan your future and decide your career goals. 7) Risks taking helps you to become self reliant. 8) Handle and manage your own finances and save aside for a rainy day. 9) Last and most important – Have trust in God.
Life is a journey and as we go along, we encounter the ups and downs of life – some happy and some sad. Our lives are in our hand and we can “make” it or “mar” it. I would like to quote the words of the famous poet Emily Dickinson who says :
If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain. If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain.

Women Vision brings to you – Harriet Rego a multi talented lady from Goa – a woman of substance and a trend setter in her own way. She believes that every woman can achieve her dreams and aspirations if she is committed, focussed and has the perservance to reach her goal. She is a true example of this herself and today although inspite of being a proud grandmother, she still pursues her talents
Harriet Marian Rego, settled in Goa with her husband Llewlyn Rego (ex Regional Manager for E Merck) is the eldest daughter of Harry and Shelma Abreo of Bangalore. Having been born in Bombay she did her primary education at the St. Francis Xavier’s School in Bangalore and passed out from the Residential school at the Sacred Heart Convent in Yercaud. After doing her P.U.C. at the Stella Maris in Chennai she graduated in B.Sc from the Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.
With her good looks and charming figure, could not resist the handsome Llewlyn Rego who was then working as a Medical Representative in Bangalore, to ask for her hand in marriage and she was married at an early age. With her marriage came the two lovely children in her life - her son Alan followed by a little sister Maria, both of whom are married and well settled. (Alan is married to Candy and live in Dubai and Maria married to Roen Menezes are the proud parents of a little daughter Kea. Both Candy and Roen hail from Goa.)

Being a homebird alone was not what Harriet was content with. Being a person of action and a go getter, she wanted to do something on her own. Apart from managing the family and the home very efficiently she was offered a job in the field of Sales. With the help, and support of her husband (who was also in the sales field) she took up the offer and joined the Multi national Book Publishers – LB Book Publishers as a Book Advisor and with her hard work and efforts she managed to top the sales chart. She was promoted as Manager for Goa State and won the Best Manager award with the highest achievement for Sales and recruitment.
After the retirement of her husband, she settled in Goa and joined the Amway business (Sales of American products) and reached t
