Dear Friends,

In this issue of Women Vision, we would like to stress the need and effectiveness of “Counselling”. Let us take the case of Shalini (name changed) who is in her mid forties. Like all other home makers she manages her home, taking interest in her husband and children. She is educated, read and intelligent. However there is one snag to her personality, she withdraws into her shell and does not take interest in herself or anything. At times she gets quarrelsome and aggressive and this condition definitely needs emotional counselling. Most women who are all day couped up  at home tend to face this problem but have to realize that with proper psychological counseling, they could be saved from such a situation.

We have to all realize that familial support and counselling can help to open the doors to disturbed minds. The human and humane touch  is what is needed to help the people who need emotional help and counseling. People at peace, can bring peace to the world.

If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in character.  If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there in order in the nation, there will be peace in the world. - Chinese proverb.

www.daijiworld.com has been privileged to have the services of  a very professional, experienced and motherly counsellor Dr. Hilda Rayappan exclusively for our readers from all over the world.  She has consented to answer all your counseling queries online inspite of being busy with her own work in Mangalore where she runs the Prajna Counselling Centre. To send your query to her please Click here.

Women Vision brings to you Matilda Pinto (Ms.), Head of Dept of English at the St. Agnes College in Mangalore. With over 30 years of teaching experience, and having taught numerous students, she witnesses the tremendous change in the outlook of the present  woman of today. She has recently been elected as the President of the Toastmaster's club.

“I am addicted to teaching and students are my weakness. My prayer is “Oh Lord let not my students learn of this for fear that this may lead to  the taught to teaching the teacher” say Matilda Pinto. A very active and lively person by nature, one can never see her sitting idle or getting bored for want of occupation. It is the adrenalin at work or making the best use of time that she perceives as a great quality and value she upholds. She plans to do research after her superannuation and her thesis statement shall be , ‘the enthusiastic are ever youthful and make good teachers’.

As the saying goes, you can’t be seasoned professor unless you are absent-minded says Matilda Pinto. She refers to the  time table,to the last date of the year, each day and each hour, student names are partially forgotten or suffer mutation with vacations and that’s not all the truth, as the witty and naughty and the diligent are remembered by name, performance and pranks.

Matilda is a well loved and popular among her students and co-teachers. On an average she teaches nearly 350 – 400 students a year and Numerically  she says “It would give you an astounding figure of the tribe you have taught over the years” Hence it is truly said “A teacher’s profession is a noble one” For it is in hands of our Teachers and Gurus that we are enlightened with knowledge and wisdom.

In the 30 years of her teaching Matilda feels that the face of the new woman is emerging. Today’s students unlike the ones in the 70’s know their mind and rejects stereo typical roles. She feels that the mode
