Dear Friends, May 11th - is MOTHER'S DAY. A wonderful day to remember not only our own Mother but every Mother - the world over. A Mother is the greatest person in anyone's life for without our Mother, we would not be in this world today. She has carried us in her womb and cared for us. Today is a day - when we have to acknowledge our love and say - Mother - I love you. How did Mother's Day come into existence? - The very earliest Mother's Day celebrations can be traced back to the spring celebrations of ancient Greece in honor of Rhea, the Mother of the Gods, however during the 1600's England began to celebrate a day called "Mothering Sunday". Celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent (the 40 day period leading up to Easter), "Mothering Sunday" honored all the mothers of England. In the United States Mother's Day was first suggested in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe (who wrote the words to the Battle hymn of the Republic) as a day dedicated to peace. Ms. Howe would hold organized Mother's Day meetings in Boston, Mass ever year and these became so popular that by 1911 a national Mother's Day was established and was celebrated in almost every state. The words of the popular song - Mother of Mine You gave to me - All of your love to teach me ABC Without love where would i be Mother - Sweet Mother of Mine. On this Lovely Note, let us pay a tribute to our dear Mother, and every Mother for the love and sacrifices they make to give their children and family the best. In this issue, we bring to your the Profile of a Lady - who is a Loving Mother and also a Successful Teacher. She is Ms. Lily Pereira.
Mrs. Lily Pereira of Babyland School in Attavar Mangalore.

Mrs. Lilly Pereira
Mrs. Lily Pereira, the Founder Director of Babyland School in Attavar, had a great love for children. This prompted her to turn her own house into a little playschool for children and in Decemebr 1972 (thirty years ago) Babyland was born. She started with just a few children and she was indeed one of the pioneers in the nursery education in Mangalore. As years rolled by Babyland, spread its wings.
Ms. Lily Pereira's vision moved on to the not so clever children, the borderliners who were children with a difference and with this she began the PREETHI PRIMARY SCHOOL in 1994. Even though it was not financially viable it was vision wise fulfilling. This did not deter the determination and the onward spirit of Ms. Lily Pereira, who inspite of all the hurdles she had to face, went on with courage and the encouragement of her family, her friends and well wishers. The Summer Creativity Camps which are held at Babyland during the holidays in April and October every year are very popular with the youngesters - who not only have fun and entertainment at these camps but emerge as better human being having been taught the finer aspects of life and personality development.. Ms, Lily Pereira is not only a teacher, but also an accomplished Musician. She has a tremendous powerful voice which can shake the mountains!! and she has been in the Mil agres Church choir for the last several years. She was the Asst. Comissioner for the Bharat Scouts and Guides Association and has been on the Governing Body of various honorary Social Service Organisations like the Diocesan Council of Catholic Wom
