Dear Ladies,
We are today in the modern world - the ‘E’ – WORLD –. E- mail, E- Commerce, E- Business, E-Marketing, etc etc. but what about one of the most important ‘E’sof our life – Education.
In days gone by, the importance of educating a girl child was not a much felt need. Parents were more concerned about getting ready her dowry and trousseau to carry to her marital home. But times have changed, and now education has become a powerful tool of not only enlightening oneself but also empowering to enable them to climb the ladder of success. We can see women shining in every sphere of life. The very fact that our country had the proud privilige of having a woman Prime Minister – Smt. Indira Gandhi is a boost to the women race.
Today life has become a rat race competition and with the inflating prices soaring by the day, it is really impossible to make ends meet in a family. This compels the lady of the house to supplement the income and without being educated, what are her chances to get a good decent job? This much felt need should be realized by every parent having a daughter that it is much wiser to educate your daughter and enable her to stand on her own feet, so that she is ready to face any consequences that could occur in her life. Dowry which has become the status symbol has really no meaning these days and instead encourages the inlaws – to be greedy and demand for more. Is your daughter a commodity to be sold?
"True education makes for inequality; the inequality of individuality, the inequality of success, the glorious inequality of talent, of genius. " Felix E. Schelling (1858-1945) American educator

In WOMEN VISION, we bring to you an outstanding personality in the field of education. Philomena Lobo the Government Education Officer based at Mangalore. Philomena has been in the field of education since the last two decades and feels that there is a great change in the ratio of female education. Women are becoming more aware of the need to be educated and thus be enlightened and empowered.
Philomena Lobo is a woman of action who stands up to her convictions. Having brought up in a family where her parents insisted on all their five daughters being educated – she is ever so grateful to her parents for their foresight and for having given them the true gift of education by which today they are able to all hold respectable jobs and positions.
She feels that in today’s world, education is a necessity and parents should never differentiate between their sons and daughters who should be given equal opportunity to study. Education helps a person in his / her outlook and as compared to the pre – independence era Philomena feels that the girl child has really realized the need for education which is a good sign of progress.
Philomena started her career in the field of education as the Headmistress of the Kadaba High School in Puttur and later joined as the Education Officer in Puttur. She joined the Government B. ed college of Education in Mangalore and then entered the Government service for education currently holding the coveted post of the Education Officer in charge of all the Government Schools in the D.K.
