Dear Friends,
April Fool’s Day is celebrated on April 1 and according to the very enlightening article carried out on the home page of daijiworld.com, it is said “Unlike most of the other non-foolish Days, April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance………………”It's simply a fun-filled day, but a day on which one must remain forever vigilant,…….
Women this is a wonderful message to all of us – To stay vigilant – we read and hear of the attrocities being committed all over with special reference to women – abortion, dowry harassment, rape, sexual harassment, etc. etc and does this have any effect on our lives is the question we all have to ask ourselves or have we just become immune to the sin and suffering of this world. NO the answer should be a NO. Don’t let your sister being suffer in silence.
Do something to help her in her crisis. Just recently in Fujairah barely a month ago – a young lady lost her husband in a tragic accident – so difficult was it for her to come to terms to reality but everytime she would see the innocent faces of her lovely daughters in front of her – she realized she has to go on. Not being educated herself, she had to depend upon the mercy and help of good people who stood by her in her hour of crisis. But how long will people help you – you have to be self reliant and stand on your own feet.
Every women should learn to be not only financially independent but to achieve her independence of every kind, she has to have a positive outlook – a vision to reach her mission and it is not a difficult task if YOU are going to have the will to have your vision.
Today in Women Vision, we bring to you Ms. Phyllis Maria D’Costa of Mangalore, An academician by profession, she is a multi faceted person whose involvement in social and honorary activities range far and wide. She is • a Life member of AMUCT, • Founder member and treasurer\ Trustee of Prajna Counseling Centre, Mangalore • Charter member and charter Secretary of “Winners Club” Mangalore- Toastmasters International, • Member of the Catholic Sabha, Milagres Parish, • Mangalore Parish Council Member , Milagres Parish, Mangalore. • Member of Chetana Literary Club, Mangalore. • Former Lioness President of Balmatta Lions’ Club, Mangalore • Life Member of the District Catholic Women’s League, Mangalore. • Vice President of the English Teachers’ Association, Mangalore • University.
Phyllis can be rightly defined as a woman of action – who believes in using every moment of her time in the best possible way. To her learning does not stop at any age and to share a little secret with you all - she even learnt to play the guitar when she had crossed her 50 years. To most women, their marriage seems to be the end of their learning and Phyllis is the best person to inspire them on this account.
Phyllis can be best described in the words of the renowned feminist – Margaret Sanger who says “Woman must not accept; she must challenge. She must not be awed by that which has been built up around her; she must reverence that woman in her which struggles for expression."
Phyllis is an excellent effective orator who keeps her audience spellbound with her magnetic voice and charming personality. She has been invited by most of the reputed colleges in Mangalore like the Besant College and St. Agnes College to give talks on Grass-root level social workers and anganwadi teachers. • Awareness programmes at Shaktinagar on health and hygiene, literacy, food and nutrition. • Involvement in the activities of Prajna Counseling Centre whenever possible Managing the home and the job • Find the genius in you.<
