Dear Friends
Change in our lives is inevitable and because of this change we all progress to a higher level. The world too is changing rapidly in every field and it is therefore apt that we humans should keep astride with the changing times.
Gone are the days when a woman was confined to her house and was expected to be in the kitchen. With the advancement of education and equal opportunities thrown open to women, she has been able to cross all barriers, and overcome all hurdles to reach and excel in every sphere. Examples of women achieving are endless - be it on the International level like Kalpana Chawla, Kiren Bedi, or our very own achievers whom we have profiled on Daijidubai like Margaret Alva, and very lately Sabita Moniz who are just a few of the shining stars who have proved that success comes with hardwork and perserverance.
Financial stability is one of the reasons that has compelled woman to seek employment. She thus helps to share the financial burden of her man, to better the life for the family and a better education for the children. In a recent annual meet at the MITAAAA (Massachuttes Institute of Technology Arab Alumni Association held in Dubai, one of the participants exclaimed "You can have it both ? home and career, if only you know how. You don't just have to be a diligent worker but a smart one too. Speaking for your rights and feeling happy about yourself are very important in being able to strike a balance, and patience too is another vital factor that is necessary. Think out of your box and live your life with passion" was the message given.
Women may have to work twice as much as men to prove themselves. They live with guilt and constantly struggle to balance home with career. But yet, women feel that if they do not fight for "their" rights no one else will. It might take one more generation to impact a change, but the next step in that direction needs to be taken today.
In this issue of WOMEN VISION, we bring to you a lively and energetic person - who inspite of being a full fledged teacher and dedicated to her mission - still finds time to contribute to the Society and especially the Women's movement.
