Lindsay Rego, is a distinguished member of the Indian Forest Service, who reached the acme of his careers, as the supreme head of forestry in the country. In this capacity, he served with distinction as a Member of various National Committee and Boards, such as the National Environment Committee, the Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship Awards Committee, the National Wastelands Development Board, and the Indian Board for Wildlife. He was instrumental in inititating landmark reforms in Forestry, such as the revision of the National Forest Policy and the integration of Forestry Research and Education into a composite Council Prior to his appointment as India's Inspector General of Forests, he pioneered Nature Conservation in Maharashtra State as its first Director.

During a span of nearly four decades of his forestry career, he had the rare opportunity to visit and study different forest types, not only throughout the country but also overseas, in countries like Swede, Norway, Canada and Mexico, which helped widen his insight and knowledge of Forestry and Nature, as a whole. FAO Rome, highly acclaimed his outstanding achievement in Forestry, in a Fellowship under its ageis in 1967.

His published books include : National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in Maharashtra, a Handbook of Soil Conservation and Afforestation and Vaniki Margdarshika ( A Forestry Handbook for the field staff in Marathi in Maharashtra. All were well appreciated. With his expertise and his rich and varied experience in Forestry and Nature as a whole, he is pre-eminently, an eloquent spokesman in this realm, as Nature's Beauty and Bounty, the first book, in his newly published trilogy amply testifies. The twin Foreword to this book, has been written by Smt. Maneka Gandhi, intrepid MP and ardent social activist and M. S. Swaminathan, noted agriculture scientist.

In the second book of the trilogy, Silver Themes and Golden Thoughts, through felicitious prose style and lively humour, the author endeavours, to bring cheer and sunshine to readers, through light, evocative and entertaining themes. The foreword to this books has been by Dr. Dion Fernandes, Ph.D. eminent entrepreneur and industrialist and a classmate and close friend of the authors. He is the elder brother of Shri Oscar Fernandes, currently Union Minister.

The third book of the trilogy, From the Sublime to the Divine, relates to spiritual themes. Imbued with lively Christian faith and inspired by zeal and fervour, to present sublime spiritual truths, through the medium of the Press, in a manner so as to appeal to the mind and heart of the reader, with light and power, the author has endeavoured to bring out this book on a wide range of spiritually rewarding themes. Some of these articles recently appeared in Catholic periodicals like The Examiner and New Leader and were much appreciated. The Foreword to this book has been contributed by Cardinal Gracias (Emeritus) Simon Pimenta, a distinguished high Church dignitary. For his noteworthy service to the Catholic Church, he was conferred the papal honour, Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, in 1980.
