“LCS SYNECTICS 2013” a new venture at Lourdes Central School


Mangalore, Oct 15:  “LCS SYNECTICS 2013”, the perfect name that spells out the meaning of Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) was the brilliant idea of Rev. Fr Michael Lobo, Principal, LCS whose only concern is to make LCS a Centre of Knowledge clubbed with good values. The programme was scheduled from 7th to 11th October, 2013 at Lourdes Central School, Bijai. from classes VI to X, 290 participants had enrolled themselves.
The Inaugural Function was held at 8.30 a.m. on Monday, 7th October, 2013 at LCS open grounds. Rev. Dr Victor Machado, Manager LCS, Rev. Fr Michael Lobo, Principal LCS, Rev. Fr Richard D’Souza, Director, Canara Communication  Centre, Rev. Icon Pallanna, Vice President, PTEC, Mr Augustine Rodrigues, Vice President P.P.P., Bejai were the dignitaries on the dais. The programme began with a prayer song led by Mr Ivan Mascarenhas and group followed by the Principal’s welcome address to the dignitaries, the resource persons and to the participants. The Manager, LCS, the Principal, LCS, Vice President, PTEC, Ms Patsy Lobo, the resource person and Alison Fernandes, the student representative inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.



On this special occasion, the Manager in his address, congratulated the Principal for introducing and arranging the programme, appreciated the hard work of Ms Helen Serrao, the Co-ordinator and requested the participants to think outside the box and to be creative. The Vice President, PTEC in his address appreciated the school for its quality education and referring to the Newton’s Law of Gravity encouraged the participants to think something different that no one has ever thought of and motivated them to enjoy the programme by their active participation. Ms Linet D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

With the grand inauguration, the programme took off and all the well qualified resource persons namely Rev. Fr Michael Lobo, Rev Fr Richard D’Souza, Mr Roman D’Souza, Mr Ivan Monteiro, Mr Anil Mascarenhas, Mr Raghavendra, Ms Patsy Lobo, Ms Matilda Pinto, Ms Preethi D’Souza, Ms Betina D’Souza, Ms Roshni Jose, Ms Linet D’Souza and Ms Helen Serrao were highly appreciated by the participants for their educative, interactive and informative sessions.

The topics dealt with were Group Dynamics, Mathematics, Science, English, Mind Skills, Self Esteem Development, Public Speaking, Mind Power, Stress Management, Leadership, Time Management, Problem Solving, Critical, Creative and Analytical Thinking, Attitudes and Social Science.

On Friday, 11th October 2013, the  certificates were distributed to all the participants. At 3.30 p.m. Valedictory Function began with a prayer song followed by sharing the personal experience of the programme by Gavin Abner Pinto of Classs VIII and Merula Pinto of Class IX. Rev. Dr Victor Machado, Manager, LCS and Rev. Fr Michael Lobo, Principal LCS both in their address, thanked the participants and requested them to put into practice all that they learnt during the programme and to make a difference in their lives. Nidhi Rao of Class X thanked all those were responsible to organize and make this programme memorable. To celebrate the success of the programme, ice-cream was distributed to all. On the whole, it was an enriching experience!

LCS has better plans and programmes in store. May all its dreams come true!
