Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management was established in the year 2007. Boasting of consistently securing one of the best results in the state, Sahyadri has also surprisingly forged ahead to make its mark in the field of sporting activities emerging as the Overall Champions in the 14th VTU State Athletics Meet, making it two years in a row during 2010-11 and 2011-12, outperforming other engineering institutions in the state.

68 different companies have visited for the placements drive during 2011-12 and 90%. Students are already placed and an average package offered is Rs. 4.5 lakh plus, per annum. In first batch of engineering pass out in 2011, total of 89% students are placed in corporate of international repute. Infosys, IBM, HCL, Indian Navy, Oracle, Aditya Birla. Wipro, HP and other MNCs.
More than 110 industrial interactions have taken place in one academic year while same number of guest lectures and exposures to students are provided.
