When we are young, our skin springs back to its initial position after a facial expression. But as we get older dynamic wrinkles remain on the skin to form static wrinkles. This process occurs because natural substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid decrease with age. This together with environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight,smoking and stress all contribute to creation of wrinkles and folds.
Botox is a natural purified protein that relaxes muscles causing wrinkles, creating a rejuvenated appearance. Botox is used to relax specific facial muscles that wrinkle during facial expression. Botox treatment is a non surgical procedure whereby a small amount of botox is administered into facial muscles using a very fine needle. Treatment takes around 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal and anesthesia is usually not required. Normal activities can be resumed soon after. Within three days softening in appearance of the wrinkles can be noticed and it takes about 7 days to see full results. With increasing age the hyaluronic acid content of our skin decreases, reducing its capacity to stay moist and supple. Oil producing glands reduce their activity and thus the skin becomes dry. This results in aging of skin. Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a form of sugar that our body produces naturally. When a filler is injected into the skin layers, it fills up the space and does away with the imperfections of the skin, caused by aging. The injecting procedure lasts for about 15 minutes. The striking difference can be seen immediately after the procedure. The results lasts for about a year.
