St Joseph’s Institutions, Bangalore, is starting a new Law College, named St Joseph’s College of Law at 18, Residency Road, Bengaluru, 560025 from this academic year 2017-18. The College is affiliated to Karnataka State Law University.

This is the first Jesuit Law College in South Asia

 

Admissions are open for two programmes;

a.   A five year Integrated Programme, B.A., LL.B, for those who have completed 12thStd

b.   A three year programme, LL.B, for those who have completed graduation

ADMISSION GUIDLEINES

APPLICATIONS:

1.  Application forms are available in the College Office.

Cost of Application: Rs 500. 

2.        Application may also be obtained by post if a DD for Rs. 600 in favour of “St Joseph’s Law College”, payable in Bengaluru, is sent to the “Director, St Joseph’s College of Law, 18 General Cariappa Road, Bengaluru 560 025”. 

3.        Applications may be also downloaded from the website www.sjcl.edu.in. Website downloaded applications should be sent along with a DD for Rs.500 in favour of “St Joseph’s College ofLaw”, payable in Bengaluru, and to be sent to the “Director, St Joseph’s College of Law, 18 F M Cariappa Road, Bengaluru 560 025. 

4. Application forms should be filled in, complete with regard to all the information asked for, in the candidate’s own handwriting. 

5. The filled-in application should be registered in the College Office either in person or by post. 

6. Selected candidates will be intimated by telephone of the date of interview. 

7. The candidate and at least one of the parents/guardian must be present for the interview.

 

Note:

Affix photograph and enclose the following attested copies.

1) SSLC/SSC/X Class Certificate/Marks Card containing Date of birth.

2) PUC 2nd year/HSC and Degree Qualification Examination marks card.

3) Previous year’s both semester marks card of subsequent year students.

4) Caste and Income certificate, if fee concession is claimed by SC/ST/Cat-1 & OBC.

5) Eligibility certificate, if needed.

6) Migration certificate, if needed.

7) Study permission letter from employer, if applicable.

8) Disability Certificate in the case of candidates belonging to PH.

 

Eligibility for Five Year B.A., LL.B Integrated Course:

Admissions to first year of the 5 year B.A., LL.B. integrated course, in all colleges under the jurisdiction of Karnataka State Law University, is strictly based on merit, based on the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination.

To be eligible for admission in the 5 year B.A., LL.B. integrated course, the candidate should : 

Have successfully completed Pre-University course or Senior Secondary School course ('+2') or equivalent such as (11+1, 'A' level in Senior School Leaving Certificate course) from a recognized University of India or outside or from Senior Secondary Board or equivalent, constituted or recognized by the Union or by the State Government or from any equivalent institution from a foreign country recognized by the government of that country for the purpose of issue of qualifying certificate on successful completion of the course, may apply for and be admitted into the course. 

Provided that applicants who have obtained +2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method shall also be considered as eligible for admission to the course.

Provided further that the applicants who have obtained 10+2 or graduation or post-graduation through open Universities system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission to the course.

Be or be less than twenty years in case of general category of applicants and less than twenty-two years in the case of applicants from SC, ST and other backward communities as on 1st June. 

Have secured marks, which shall not be below 45% (44.5% and above shall be treated as 45%) of total marks in qualifying examination, in case of general category applicants and 40% (39.5% and above shall be treated as 40%) of total marks in case of SC and ST applicants.

 

Eligibility for Three Year LL.B Course 

Admissions to first year of the 3 year LL.B. course, in all colleges under the jurisdiction of Karnataka State Law University, is strictly based on merit, based on the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination. 

To be eligible for admission in the 3 year LL.B. course, the candidate should : 

Have graduated in any discipline of knowledge from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence, may apply for three year degree course in law leading to the conferment of LL.B. degree on successful completion of the regular programme conducted under these Regulations. 

Be or be less than thirty years in case of general category of applicants and thirty-five years in the case of applicants from SC, ST and other backward communities as on 1st June. 

Have secured marks, which shall not be below 45% (44.5% and above shall be treated as 45%) of total marks in case of general category applicants and 40% of total marks in case of SC and ST applicants.

 

Fee Structure :

Five Year B.A., LL.B Integrated Course: for the first year: Rs 80,000 + University Fee

Three Year LL. B Course: For the first year: Rs 75,000 + University Fee
