Irene Mary Flora Gonsalves (91), W/o Joe Gonsalves, M/o Cheryl Saldanha, Lorna Gonsalves, Franco Gonsalves, and Michelle Gonsalves Mathias, their spouses, Harry Saldanha, Peter Pinto, Margaret Gonsalves, and Michael Mathias, Grandmother of Sam Saldanha, Nihal Saldanha, Vivek Saldanha, Sanjay Joseph, Maya Pinto, Nicole Joan, Tara Marie, Vikram Mathias, Rhea Mathias, and Lara Mathias, and 4 great-grand children, passed away on 2 May 2017.

The mortal remains will be bought to Milagres Church at 3.30 pm on Friday May 5 for public homage. Mass at 4 pm and burial thereafter at the cemetery.

A light from our lives has dimmed but the fond memories of dearest Aunty Irene will linger forever. Over the past 50 years or more our families have shared in each others joys and sorrows. A. Irene was always a tower of strength and support in her quiet inimical way. She was the epitome of grace,elegance and understanding. We will remember her as a role model for she was a loving wife, a doting mother not only to her dear children and grandchildren but also to numerous others in various parts of the world. I have vivid memories of Mrs Irene Gonsalves attending the Sunday 4.30 PM Mass at Milagres for many years - sitting on the front bench - with Mr. Joe Gonsalves escorting her with great concern and love. I missed her maybe for the last couple of years while Mr. Gonsalves was all over the place with his altar-related work. Lynette and I will miss her on the front pew. May the Lord give her a similar vantage seat in His Kingdom and console Mr. Gonsalves and his family to reconcile to the void.
