Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Chapel, 5835 W Slauson Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230, followed by burial at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Shyla I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is such a difficult and hard to process part of life. I lost my father last year at this time...Please know I am keeping you and your family and your mom's wonderful community spirit in my thoughts and prayers. I have so many wonderful memories of Henry's Market...coming in for egg sandwiches and coffee in the morning, snacks and Cokes in the afternoon. Regina will be greatly missed. Whenever I came into her store in Venice, she always greeted me with a warm smile, and was always kind and friendly. I was good friends with Regina back in the 1980s. She took me in.as one of her own. . We spent alot of time together. and even lived in Hawaii together for awhile. We drove up to San Francisco for a memoranle trip. I thought of her often. and. always hoped to see her again. I am glad I got back in touch with her children. She was a beautiful person with a Huge heart. She also was the best cook I ever knew.I stayed in California an extra year just for her cooking. She will be missed by many people including myself. Regina was one of the first people I met when I moved to Venice. I remember her laugh and we quickly became friends. When I saw her walking I would pick her up and we had great talks about life. She told me to buy a house that was run down and fix it up. It was too expensive, I thought. Now when ever I see that house I think of Regina and how right she was and how rich I'd be if had listened to her. Then she bought a house by the steps in Santa Monica. And I would visit her there. She was no dummy. I miss our times together. I'm sad to hear she died. Goodbye sweet Regina. Thank you for being you! I love you.

When I remember Regina, I will remember her for her kind smile, her deep laugh, and her well-considered words of mama wisdom. I find comfort in knowing how much she loved being a mother and how she loved her kids and how they rallied around her in these past few months. I am inspired by Regina, the savvy businesswoman, who acted with kindness and respect in all her endeavors. I will remember Regina for the tasty food she made and shared so generously. Dear Joe, Austin, Shyla, Winston and Veeda,

It was with great sadness that we heard of your mother’s passing. We had visited with Regina just last month where she regaled us with news of her recent travels.

We were lucky enough to be introduced to the Fernandes family soon after we arrived in Los Angeles in the early 80’s. We so enjoyed our get-togethers with all of you and your extended family. We knew Regina for 36 years. We knew her to be a fiercely loyal and loving mother to her 5 children. She was also an astute business woman and prided herself on her business acumen. In fact, she helped Robin start his own business on the Venice Boardwalk soon after he retired from UCLA. He enjoyed working at that store for many years, with Regina’s help.

We also remember that she was an amazing cook. When our kitchen was under construction, she frequently arrived at our doorstep with many dishes of her delicious cooking.

We will miss her quiet strength and her unmistakable hearty voice.

We came to know Mommy Regina through Shyla, her daughter. Mommy Reg, as we fondly called her, was overflowing with wisdom, grace, dignity and decorum.
