Dear Do..Re..Me..Fa.. browzers,
Last year just after the most cherished 'Monti Fest' celebration, the ever favourite Konkanni portal 'www.daijidubai.com' gave a precious gift for its browsers and exclusively for Konkani music lovers, a gift of a unique music column namely 'Do..Re..Me..Fa..' The objective of this special column was to disseminate the Konkanni music among the Konkanni speaking community scattered across the globe, with the great Konkanni musical legends and renowned artistes who have contributed immensely and enriched the Konkanni Music to its present level. It is also an endeavor to bring to light, the hidden talents of the budding musical artistes and to encourage them by way of promoting their musical recordings and cassettes and also to try to share the taste of Konkanni Music with non-Konkanni compeer groups and introduce to them our musical geniuses.
Few months prior to the launching of this music column, when the brainpower behind this great Konkanni portal Sri Walter Nandalike asked me to edit these series of chords, I was bit puzzled and reluctant to go forward. I was wondering how to go about, who and what to present. At this juncture, my fellow 'Borpi Mithr' friends encouraged and forced me to say 'Yes' and with their support I ventured into this new experiment in my life and that was the dawn of 'Do..Re..Me..Fa..' an unique and first of its kind in the history of Konkanni music world.
Now a year has passed. A year of 12 months filled with 12 beautiful chords of great Konkanni music legends, whose contributions to the 'Konkanni Music' was worth mentioning and immeasurable. It started with the all time great music maestro Rev.Fr.Walter Albuquerque S.J., followed by the father of Konkanni Music Konkan Kogul Wilfy Rebimbus then Adrian Gomes, Alwyn Fernandes, Henry D'Souza, Eric Ozario, Apolinaris D'Souza, Melwyn Peres, Rev.Fr.Dr.Charles Vas S.V.D., Mick-Max, Claud D'Souza and Wilson Olivera.
Initially, when I jumped into this river of music I was totally unaware of its depth. Now I have realized that I am shouldering a most difficult and responsible task and there is a long way to go to complete this mission. So far, mostly I have portrayed Mangalore based music artistes. Soon I am planning to present to you Mumbai based artistes like Sri Victor Concesso, Sri Lawrence Saldanha & so on. Later I wish to venture into the birthplace of Konkanni Music, Goa. Also I entertain a desire to feature artistes of other Konkanni dialects like Saraswat, Kharwi, Kudmi, Sidhi & so on. Though I am not aware how far I would be successful in this difficult mission, but at least I have some satisfaction that it is by the grace of Almighty God I have ventured into it and if God willing this unique column will remain as a great reference for the future generation to come.
As 'Do..Re..Me..Fa..' is celebrating its first Anniversary, as an editor, it is my prime duty to thank Almighty God for giving me this great opportunity and privilege to introduce His chosen ones, whom he has blessed with great talent of music. I thank our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary for her constant intercession and blessings. I must thank in a big way the power behind this web portal Sri Walter Nandalike, for the initiation and great support. In a very special way I thank my dear friend and great supporter Sri Robert Pereira for his unassuming help in drafting and editing these beautiful musical chords. I must thank my fellow 'Borpi-Mithr' members especially Sri Clarence Kaikamba, Anil Pernal, Wilfred R. Pangla and Richa Pangla (now in Dubai), for their great support and encouragement. It's my duty to thank all the artistes who supported me by giving their profiles and photographs to make these chords all the more interesting. Finally I should not forget to thank all 'Do..Re..Me..F
