| Fay Stephanie D’Souza |
| |
April 8, 2010 We meet a very talented little girl in this edition – Fay Stephanie D’Souza. Fay is eight years old and lives in Melbourne, Australia with her parents and two younger siblings. She is in grade four at St Kevin’s Catholic Primary School.
Dad Stephen originally hails from Kadri and mum Anita is originally from Kulshekar.
Fay has a collection of poems which she has been composing since a very young age, and today she shares four such poems with us. Apart from composing a poem, Fay enjoys drawing and painting the ideas on which her poems are based. And not only that, Fay has the ability of reciting poems extempore.
Fay’s other interests include reading, story-writing and story-telling, swimming and music. Fay is also a good compere.
You are really gifted Fay, keep building on your talents and make us all proud. God Bless.

Kittens

Fay Stephanie D’Souza
Kittens are soft, loving, cute and purry
But mostly they are furry!
Kittens are cuddly, puddly, friendly and sweet
And most of all, they like a little treat!
[composed at age four]
Dance to the Beat
Come on be a star
You are good so far
Hang on every note
With your rocking coat
Try to make a style
Come on, use your smile
Come on, strike a pose
Keeping high your nose
Don’t you feel the heat?
Come on! Dance to the beat.
[composed at age five]
When the sun goes down…
When the sun goes down and it’s the end of the day
Two little children would like to play
All they do is play all night
They could not get sleep from the moon-light
In the early morning time to awake
They’re already fast asleep by the lake
They got sick from the bugs on the floor
Now they’ll sleep outside no more.
[composed at age six]
God’s world
Wow! Look at the happy world - there’s lot of fresh air,
Look at the big rainbow glinting over there
See the little bees having a big parade
Oh! What a lovely world God has made.
Look at the children smiling in a good way
Oh! it’s just a wonderful day.
Hear the chirping birds singing a song
Oh! let every one smile all along.
See the puppy giggle and bark
Look at the great bright blue shark
Look at the fine men set sail
Look at the big blue whale!
[composed at age seven for her religion homework]

Hello Fay, Usually I don’t read poems. They are too difficult for me. However, I loved your poems. They are very nice and beautifully written. The choice of words is very good. If you continue like this, soon you will become a great poet.
Keep writing. All the best.
