Mr. Lawrence D'Souza, was born at Valencia, Mangalore as a proud son of Late. Shri Baptist & Late. Smt. Piyad, of Pane-Mangalore. He did his initial studies at Kapitanio School. He is a young, down-to-earth, simple, helpful, affectionate and energetic person. He walks and talks like slipering Mercury. He is such a hard worker, nice colleague and softhearted person that I had never seen in my life.
Being a prominent well-established producer-director he is also, a very softhearted person and model to others that anyone can follow him. When I went to his office at Oshiwara, Andheri (West), there was a big queue of people from different strata of film industry. But he was speaking to one by one personally. Inspite of his busy schedule, he gave me interview by keeping aside all his works. During interview also he was guiding his team members and receiving mobile calls.
I have seen many more Konkani business people but I had never seen such a religious person. He is a strong believer of Mother Mary. The small grotto, which is situated on the wall of his office entrance, is witness for this. His new office “Mother Mary Creation” is under establishment. He stays at Yari Road (Versova), Andheri (West) with his wife Mrs. Rita D'souza (a dynamic lady who helps in his business activities) and lovely children, Roshni & Rohit (who is a computer kid). He is grateful to his parents, sisters, family members and above all our Nithyadhar Saibin for their support and blessings.
When his directional movie “Saajan” became hit, he got international acclaim for his good work. He climbed the ladder of success (cameraman turned producer-director) through his hard work, dedication and determination and today, after 32 years in this field (17 - 18 films) he is rated as one of the best action producer-director of film industry. He has come back from London last week after a shoot. Again, he will be going to London for one month for the work of movie “Indian Babu” with newcomers. From there he wants to go to Rome as a pilgrimage tour. After that the same movie will be shot at Punjab for one month. His directional movie “Dil Bhi Kya Cheez Hai” is ready for release.
