(As we know the film industry is called as Bollywood.. It has become an entertainment conglomerate.It has succeeded in capturing the widely spread indian’s vivid imaginatin and has been entertaining the masses regularly . Who are these dream merchants? And why we should adore them? Well, ask the 1 billion plus populace. And you will get the answer. Well, theanswer will be that they are the demigods who rule the industry selling dreams. And the the whole nation goes ga-ga over them!!. Why not have a peek in their lives and activities and see what is so special about them……)
Govinda, better known as poor man’s mithun once was a simpleton dancer, aptly called by the press as “ the Virar ka Chokra”, he was given a break by Pranlal Mehta in his ‘ Love 86’ and stole the viewers imagination with his mercurial break dance ! ‘ Tan Badan’, his uncle Anand mama’s film , though he had signed first and foremost in his life but got released late due to financial constraints. ‘ Ilzaam’ catapulted him to great heights in terms of name and fame. He became the nation’s break dancing idol!
Sridevi, Neetu Singh, Sarika, Daisy Irani, Honey Irani, Pallavi Joshi were all child stars. The star sons gate – crashing into the film industry started in 1981 with ‘ Kumar Gaurav’ with “ love Story” and ‘Sanjay Dutt’ with “ Rocky” were launched by their respective fathers. In 1983 Dharmendra’s Vijayta films launched ‘ Betaab’ with Sunny Deol. All the three movies were blockbusters. Manoj Kumar launched his brother Vishaal Goswami in ‘Painter Babu’ and burnt his fingers. 
Dev Anand introduced Zeenat Aman( miss asia pacific), Tina Munim, Nafisa Ali, Zaheera, Natasha Sinha, Akshay Anand, Mink the list is endless!
Subhash Ghai , angry with the star system and in particular with ‘ Sunju Baba’ got a handsome hunk named ‘ Jackie Shroff’ and launched him in ‘ hero’ and a hero was born. Pehlaj Nihalani launched ‘ Chunky Pandey; in ‘ Aag Hi Aag’. But his career never took off..!
Akshay Kumar nee rahul Bhatia was lapped up by the industry post ‘ International Khiladi’. Pramod Chakraborty offered him his first movie ‘ Barood’, but, due to financial constraints was released very late. By then, Akshay had seen innumerable flops starting from his first movie’ ‘ saugandh’.
The corporatisation of the film Industry has helped , as many a channels are clinging to the idea of talent scouting
and introducing fresh faces. The stars will be born and the fittest will survive the testing times and the frail and fragile will perish. The world of showbusiness has a cruel side to it which is not visible to many!As the satellite television has put shackles to a lot of viewers and has grown in stature, which in turn has attracted a lot of commercial movie stars towards the idiot box.Some relief here for the bollywood rejects as they can source their livelihood here!
