A Glimpse of My World
By Dr Pamela Jane Pinto

December 6, 2013

A Glimpse of My World

So I woke up this morning
it was just another day
I made myself some tea and
set out on my way.

The world however, seemed out of sorts
like everyone was still asleep.
The roads abandoned
The cars stranded
I thought, 'Where could everyone be!?'

I looked harder this time
at the public sector across,
where not a day or night went by
when the place wasn't in chaos.

And then something struck me
the world wasn't asleep ...
I am the only person left -
A lone survivor who's got the world to keep.

I felt disoriented, I looked around again
Could this really be true?!
That not a soul existed apart from me
Just the sound of the wind that blew.

What do I do now? where do I go?
Search if there could be someone like me?
And what if there wasn't? Then what do I do?
Just carry on living with no company?!

But suppose I find someone, would that be good?
I mean, would I get along with that being?
What if they're different? Speak another language?
What if they're not like me?!

Maybe they'd fight and quarrel,
Maybe they'd try to harm me
or maybe they'd plot behind my back
and when I'm asleep just stab me?

Perhaps I'm better off alone -
Who'd want to face such drama?
The world before was full of it
and now it's like an aftermath of a trauma!

If only they could see now,
how their stupidity got them nowhere
Be it the white, the black, the rich, the poor
The world didn't really seem to care.

If only they could see that their wars
led to the desecration of this place.
If only they could see that their tantrums
are all that's left behind without a face.

I can see the good that had happened
I can see all the damage too
Dark clouds looming over  my head
Would they bring good times anew?

And how can I possibly make this change -
all by myself, I wonder
should I start from the left or from the right
or should I keep walking asunder?

This is a difficult feat now
not one that I can possibly cope with.
What can be done to rectify it now
When the damage has reached the earth's pith?!

And suddenly a clap of thunder -
shakes me out of my reverie,
darkness falls, lightning strikes
and smoke surrounds my periphery.

I feel alive again, and not just in my head alone
I feel something is different
The smell is sweet, the air is fresh,
could it be that to heaven I've been sent?

But wait, what's that sound - it's more than a voice -
it's the clatter I know all too well.
It's just outside my window - the one near my bed,
maybe it's not heaven but hell ?!

I look about now and it slowly makes sense
I'd never left my room all night!
I had a dream and a weird one at that
but its purpose now is as clear as light.

My train of thought was interrupted
by my neighbours yelling at each other.
Should I go and tell them, them fighting is useless
'cause in the end it doesn't really matter?!

I can picture myself doing just that
and being told to keep out of it,
They'd tell me 'Get Lost' or ask if I'm mad
or maybe on my face they'd just spit.

Oh well, forget it -
Maybe it's not worth it
After all, can one person change the whole world?
I'll be on my way
and wait for that day
For a new universe to unfurl.

Dr Pamela, a glimpse of our world is very beautiful and attractive
Six billion living human vehicles breathe and live without pollution
Billions of living beings breath, eat, move and survive in silence
Our planet carries and moves with huge continents and oceans
The nature produces enough vegetation and food to inhabitants
Still our planet is cool, clean, clear, noiseless and peaceful to live

It is the competition, comparison, enmity, selfishness and greed
Pollutes and disturbs the life making it inconvenient and tough
Mushrooming and multiplying vehicles on roads, destroy peace
If the gravity power is free, abundant, non-exhausting and 24x7
Why pay for fuel to buy air pollution, sound pollution and poverty?
If the nature moves on free, why we carry and move the burden?

Dear Pamela, I enjoyed reading the way you describe so much in a special way. Your words touched me a lot and for some time I thought about what you wish to express. It is very personal what you say. I appreciate that a lot.
You say, “I feel disoriented...”, we all know this feeling. It comes and goes. You continue, “What do I do now? Where do I go? Search if there could be someone like me?”
I am of the opinion, human beings need a meaning of life, especially in our competitive and globalised world. Last week I read an article in The Spiegel, a German magazine, that around 10 million people in Germany drink heavily alcohol and around 1,3 million are addicted to alcohol. This must be taken very seriously as it shows that million of people have no goals, meanings. Though the standard of living is very high in Germany and there is an excellent working social welfare system, a stable democracy, highly educated and qualified people, more and more human beings look desperately for a meaning, a partner, love, understanding.
Our liberal, open minded and secular societies offer so much to lead a comfortable life, but I come back to the point, people need faith, a meaning, it is so important to know for what we live. We need objectives what we would like to achieve, hobbies, friends and especially love.
Pamela, you say,”I feel alive again, and not just in my head alone I feel something is different, The smell is sweet, the air is fresh, could it be that to heaven I ´ve been sent?”
Yes Pamela, there is always something different with a meaning of life, when we have objectives, we would like to achieve, when we believe, when we know for what we live. All that can give us the certainty to lead a fulfilling life.
With a meaning of life, life is richer and makes us more aware of the needy and poor. Yes we can change a little bit in our neighbourhood and within our family.
Thank you Pamela for your wonderful poem!

Best regards
