Torn Denims

Torn Denims

It was Christmas time

When the church bells chime

Gifts are yet to come

Incomplete for some

I was passing along the snowy street

Never expected we would meet

A mournful old man

With a support stick and a talisman

“Want some chocolate, sir?” I said

He smiled at me and revered

“Christmas is bright for all,

for me the world’s a gloomy hall”.

A glassy look he had

His situation worse and bad

He has no aims in life now

To work harder was his everyday vow

Begging was the only choice

No support, no voice

Mind was readjusting

Weak body unwilling

“The big man took it away

Now on the streets I lay

My family, my property, my everything

Never thought the horror he would bring”

Now I came to understand

He is duped with no land

No one to catch if he falls

Not even a place for nature’s call

I escorted him to my house

Gave him jacket and some gloves

What a friend was he

Sad to say “was”, you see

People on earth falsify

For money even tell lie

When would cheating come to an end

When would people learn to lend

Readers can find the solution

For people with that corrupt notion

Let’s be cautious and take vows

That’s our right we will surely espouse.

Dear Prithvi,

"You are Unique". It is clear God has graciously blessed you with an incredible talent to express to the world the teaching of his values, the focal point being selfless love and "You shall love your neighbor as yourself"

Thank you and May God shower on you his grace and divine light to be the 'Salt" of the earth and "Light" of the world through your words as a unique gift for us. That we may understand it is not accomplishing great things that matters here on earth or in heaven but how we go about accomplishing them.

Take care and Best wishes. Looking forward to receive your net poem in line. :))
