The First Cry
By Reine Furtado

The First Cry

The first cry

The first walk

Tiny feet

Laughin stock

Family cheer

No worldly fear

No dream so far

All the loved ones near

The growth of limbs

Etched in films

Eyes recognizing

Reality rising

Toys so realistic

Everything mystique

Exploring the crowd

Head still not bowed

Loaded with bags on the shoulder

Education and morals like boulder

Relations getting older

Connections getting colder

Joys moving from toys to people

Life getting stronger and feeble

Ties with non blooded staying longer

Craze of unknown and want to wander

Trying new avenues

Not thinking of revenues

Clinking glasses

Smoke that passes

The first cry of pain

Life looking too vain

The first walk of shame

Bowing down with blame

Losing the confidence

Issues thick and dense

Stolen moments cherished

All the bonds and ties perished

Supporting hands haunt

Pity is more of a taunt

Reflex reaction soars

Shadows prettier on the floors

Inspiration found within

Calmness starts to seep in

Sleepless nights start to fall behind

It all plays back in rewind

And then ends with the first cry

Tear streaks start to dry

When the dust on the ground leans

I see and wonder what the first cry means.

Feel like pinching you in sheer delight and hearing your second cry.Simply because of the gift you possess to put across something you want to without even so much as a try.The 'depth' and 'control'is there for all who wish to see.
Magnificent and keep writing....

Lovely poem Reine - you revived my memories of 38 years ago when my 1st child was born and I had the thrill and excitement of hearing his 1st cry - simply beyond description - because it was a long and difficult birth process and when everything finally went off well everyone around were over the moon. Thanks for the excellent poem and keep going - you are young and have great potential.
