Why This World?
By Prithvi S J Monteiro

November 2, 2012

Why This World?

Why this world? A question in my mind

Would I ever this answer find?

Come along those who view the same

To find the answer would be our aim

Is it to play, have fun, live and die?

Or is there some physics we cannot defy?

Or is it God who could show the way?

We are not sure you know He may

Are we here to be born and then rest for eternity?

Whatís the use if there is no fraternity?

The rope of peace, love and joy is fraying

ĎWhy this world?í, my heartís saying

Are we here to struggle and earn our living?

And do what without the joy of giving?

Why this world? A question in my mind

Would I ever this answer find?

Why this world when the guns are out?

Do gunmen feel when the innocent scream and shout?

For help and need are we here?

I know we are helpless as we fear

Harmony of colours on this earth

Infinitely many since its birth

Some of them are adapted by human rights

Then why the blacks? And why the whites?

In this great depot of he and she

Discrimination towards women should it be?

Why this world? Why this world?

When would the flag of justice unfurl?

Oh the answer in my mind

Is strange, but is one of a kind

Itís not for our inhibitions

But itís a beautiful attempt of God to appreciate his mystical creation

Good writing. While we rush every day to reach our destinations and to attain the purely materialistic goals of life, we may not be faced with a critical juncture of life to ask to ourself "why", about the creation of the universe-purpose behind life-the ultimate destiny and purpose of our totally self-centered race in running over other bystanders. Keep on writing.

Thank you Prithvi for giving us a thoughtful poem. I'm sure millions of people feel the same way, 'Why this world'. Just too much and too far from what you wrote. This is a world of hierarchy and inequality but this also a world of charity and morality. Let us amend our ways and spend usefully, the rest of our days! Well written Prithvi, keep it up. All the best in your future.

Kudos Prithvi! Today is a blessed Sunday for me! First I read Prakithi the nature, and then her brother Prithvi, the earth! You have lot of depth in your words as well as in your thoughts. In 'Why this world' you have chosen a very matured subject to explore and you have floated through it in ease! You have clarity on the subject and command over your language. These are two things what make one a writer. You have to nurture it further with hard work. A long way to go but you have already set your first foot front..now don't look back. Let your journey continue till you find the answer for 'Why this world?' May God be with you.

Congratulations Prithvi,
Why this world? a good question.
This world is a huge stage for enormous actors to take part with given roles to play. How can we question the creator who transforms a sperm into a full formed body with life in motherís womb?
Generations after generations take part as a relay game for limited and unknown distance. Each individual life is a small slide of a lengthy film reel, which appears for a while and disappears forever.
Life is a particular a spot to bat with the option and opportunity to score well (either worldly or eternal or both), which highly influences by good and bad elements.
Godís grace and evil temptations play a bigger role in our live performance. We can have more information about the world if we recall the answer to a first Std. catechism question i.e. why God has created us?
This world is created by God and ruled by devil, by human vote and support. Truth is bitter, but true fact has to be accepted.

@ Lorna almeida , mangalore Dubai. " why not God who created world taking care of it!" . Answer is simple , God has given free will , so he will not interefere ( he can! But he will not !!) . So its upto us to save ourself and the world. God may indulge only when disaster strikes. @ poem . World is not too bad . Women dicrimination !? , what about men deprived of their rights ( and also misandry ). One can see bliss in every creature , even monster has a 'nice side ' which he hides from world. Singing of birds , smile on babies face , charming midnight moon , roaring sea all r Gods wonderfull creations and its free to. Beauty lies in the bestowed!.

very nicely written prithvi, keep it up, god bless you. The answer in my mind is that this world was created as a form of Entertainment, it can be compared to an amusement park or cyber game, the participants are all in it for the thrill of the ride or game. I am so mysterious that even I dont understand myself, why not the god who created this world taking care of it ? god only knows.

One of the best poems of Daiji. Very nicely written. Reminds the ease of Billy Collins. The prose is simple, words are apt, and the final revelation is enlightening.
