Lost.... |

Note: This has been written for a cause, for those who have lost their loved ones to drugs.
Lost

Curiosity struck, they try They like it knowing little, or more Give it a second try Come the third one, they're already at it Confusion, apprehension - and then confidence Curl up, sniff, puff it in, and pass it on And the trip goes on Talking heads are a bunch Flummoxing themselves Amidst the fumes of flummery - Curmudgeonly cunning Dizzy heads, drowsy eyes Pale lips, numb limbs Look, now, they're at their best forms Of joy, of frustrations, of dreams, Of desires and of demands Excuse after excuse, reasons for no reasons They stand strong, united, and apart, One more reason and another purpose Take out – Bottles, pills, cigars, syringes In the name of friendship In the name of music, of sports, Of films and of books And of politics, of power What don’t they know? One drop more, and a gulp more An another night, another cause And they lose the grip – In the name of life, Before they etch their names In the test of life, Before they partake. They lose themselves there Yes, they realize their own price When they can’t afford themselves anymore Their songs of life When they can’t sing anymore Left to the ones Who’ve suffered their presence? And who will suffer their absence even more – They flunk. Period.

Iboyaima Wangkheimayum you have written a poem, published by Daiji. Addiction to drugs is getting from bad to worse not only in Europe, the USA or India, all over the world. Daily we read in magazines, newspapers about that destroying problem.
But I am of the opinion it is more important to fight against drugs therefore I would like to ask you dear Iboyaima Wangkheimayum are you involved in any organisation that makes young people aware of the danger of drugs or do you look after or take care of drug addicts?
It is great to write and to inform the public how dangerous drugs are but decisive is to be involved in any organisation that try to help drugs addicts to overcome their addiction.
There are lot of non governmental organisations in India that helps drug addicts. Those organisations are looking desperately for volunteers who are willing to work with addicts.
You are a young and talented writer but join if you haven´t done it a non governmental organisation and help the poorest of the poor.
Drugs addicts need help, professional help by psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors, social workers and from volunteers. Everything should be done to help them to overcome their addiction and to lead a normal life, often only a dream. But dreams can become true.
Drug addicts need dignity and they shall be treated with respect.
Therefore volunteers play an important role.
Thank you for your poem.
Best regards

Dear Iboyaima , how beautifully you have captured the despair , agony , helplessnes and guilt of losing a loved one do drugs. The need to disconnect from reality has terrible consequences which ends up in betrayal of trust & no room for sanity.
