Friendship Beyond Words...
By Jimmy Noronha
Jimmy Noronha, originally from Belloor, Bantwal, has extensively travelled abroad and is now settled at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In this article he narrates an unusual friendship between a dog and a monkey and draws our attention to the episode’s moral fibre.

January 4, 2012

It is not often that we come across an unusually exciting sight with a strong moral fibre, but that is exactly what happened last week as my wife and I set out to do some shopping in our colony.

As I was driving leisurely along, my wife suddenly screamed at me to halt and my leg automatically screeched the car to a stop. The result was a breathtaking sight of a stray dog tip toeing along the kerb, absolutely free from fear with a cute baby monkey on its back.

On realising that the dog and the baby monkey are being looked after by a family nearby, I set out in the evening to take some snaps of the loving pair.

The family told me that for the last six months the monkey has been living with the dog and it strayed into their house and her pet dog immediately took to liking the monkey and it was like love at first sight. They have been continuing to live together thereafter. The dog has been extremely caring and the pair would never part from each other.

Really a most unusual friendship indeed when I reflect how furiously monkeys have been chased away by dogs. The neighbours told me that the pair has become very “famous” next only to the Chief Minister Mayawati as they have been attracting many people who come and take photographs of the pair.

Now as I write this, another year is slipping out of our hands and many near and dear ones have departed this world during this time.

Time never waits for anyone, but certainly time can be better spent and the world would be a better place to live by being good to one another irrespective of caste or religion.
May be we can take a leaf out of the friendship of the picture of the friendly pair above to cast away whatever ill feelings that we nourish against our fellowmen.

If Menfolk have forgotten to live in Harmony with neighbours, better look at these lesser creatures for a moral lesson.

It is a very interesting picture
which gives us a whole lot of
lessons to learn. Even though
an entirely different breeds of
animals can have such a close
friendship, but the civilized and
educated human beings are divided
and look at each with disregard and hate based on
religion-caste-social status-color-
political ideology etc. Let us all
learn some great social and spiritual lessons of life
from this story.

A harmoneous relationship indeed. We humans can learn from animals.Over the years, I have learnt that animals are far superior to human beings.
Animal insticts are far superoir than human brains I should say!!!1

God has again proved the beauty and sweetness of friendship, beyond expectations. The Human beings to learn a lot,as they used to quarrel and fight on cast, creed, color, region, country & continent. The dog and monkey are not human beings but they stood upto an exemplary humanity. Hats of to Mr & Mrs. Jimmy for his sense of humanity

This is really a wonderful story and thank you Daijiworld to publish it at the begin of a new year.
The friendship between the dog and the baby monkey is special. They met and the baby monkey even entered the house and since then they have been living together.
This is amazing and it shows real love without any conditions.
The photographs taken by Jimmy Noronha even show closeness and tenderness between both animals.
Especially on the first photograph the baby monkey lies on the dog´s back, relaxed and dreamy.
Protected and only enjoying the moment.

The photographs show pure friendship. That is what most human beings lack. Friends they can rely on and trust.

It is not obvious to have good friends. When one has close friends that is a gift, we shall appreciate and embrace it.

Globalisation has made life more difficult for many human beings. Therefore one can be glad to have a meaning of life and close friends.
Both are given by GOD.

Best regards

“Manga Maanava” learn something from these two animals. They are not related to each other with their cast, religion or group, yet they stay together and love each other. We should be ashamed while engaged in hatred against fellow human beings

The dogs are faithful and loving creatures. They are faithful and loyal to the Master and to the one who loves them and takes care of them. We human beings have to learn many things from these creatures.
