One's identity is his most cherished asset. That is what defines him as a person in his own right, and tells the world about his values and equity. Here is a person, who is a most sought after orthopedic surgeon of Mangalore. Apart from his busy Schedule of teaching medicine in a medical college, visiting various hospitals as consulting Orthopedician, spends his rest of the day with literature, that too in his mother tongue Konkani.
A doctor with-a - difference!
Hailing from a religious peasant family of ATTINJE, a small village in Shirva, Udupi district. Dr. Nazareth wished to be a Catholic priest. Instead he became a doctor through Scholarships. Those hard days, he still remembers with a splash of humility.
Author of "Bhori Bholaiki", "Yuvazanank Leingik Shixon", "Kazari Leingik Jivith", and "Bhurgyamchi Zothon" - health related books in Konkani, of which there was a scarcity in Konkani literature "Kantiyanim Bhandllem Vodth", "Nirmonem", "Bhumi Vaikuntamt", "Advarllem Phal", " Saimbhachem Pathak" - are his other literary works. For Nirmonem and Bhumi Vaikuntamnt, he has been bestowed with Dr. T.M.A. Pai foundation and Konkani Sahitya Academy awards.
Happily married to Dr. Nelly Nazareth, Dr. Nazareth at present serves as a Professor and Head of Orthopaedic department in Fr Muller Medical College, Mangalore and also as a consulting orthopaedic surgeon for number of hospitals in and around Mangalore.
Inspite of his busy Schedule he still writes in Konkani. His coloumn "Mogacha Dakterabaa…" in "Raknno" and "Kalokamthlim savalam" in "Mithr" are well accepted. He is a regular columnist in almost all the Konkani periodicals.
Though orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Nazareth has answered questions from many of our visitors in various disciplines of medicine.
Henceforth Dr. Nazareth will answer the health related queries of "Daijiworld/Konkandaiz" web surfers too.
